Newcastle artist Midge Coleman will exhibit at the Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) office gallery from August 25 to October 3. The theme of her exhibit is “Sunlight and Shadow ... Landscapes of Maine.”

There will be a public reception for Coleman from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29.

Coleman has shown her paintings at galleries and juried art shows along the East Coast for the past 20 years, winning prizes for her work in three mediums, oil, acrylic and pastel. Trained as a realist painter, she continues to study with the finest American landscape painters, traveling cross country to paint and find new and exciting subjects to capture.

Living half the year in Maine affords Coleman the opportunity to paint its wonderful coast and villages, capturing Maine's beautiful light.

Having vacationed in Maine for many years, Coleman was delighted to discover the Plein Air Painters of Maine when she and her husband bought their cottage in Sheepscot eight years ago. The group introduced her to new places to paint that have provided wonderful subject matter and the joy of sharing her love of painting with other artists who all strive with their work to bring the many moods of Maine to life on their canvas.

Coleman will donate 40 percent of sales to support the PWA mission of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid peninsula.
