‘Mainly Maine’ and ‘Wilde Art’ shows at River Arts

River Arts invites the public to the opening reception for its newest juried exhibition “Mainly Maine,” and for Sarah Wilde's solo show, “Wilde Art,” at River Arts West, on Friday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The show, running through Sept. 3, comprises over 100 works in a wide variety of media and styles.

Local artists' whose works were selected by juror Andy Curran are James A. Kipfer, Jon Luoma of Alna; John Butke, Mark Reilly of Boothbay; Jack Gilmore, Mal Gormley, James Napier and Polly Steadman of Damariscotta; Sally Smith of East Boothbay; John Lorence of Edgecomb and Sarah Harvey of Woolwich.

Artist Curran was founder and director of the former Saccarappa Art Collective in Westbrook. He is also the longtime owner of Dog Star Creations. Curran, born and raised in Westbrook, has a studio in his hometown and spends his time creating new art.

The public is also invited to attend the reception for Sarah Wilde's solo show, “Wilde Art,” at River Arts West Gallery during the same time frame. This show, which runs through Aug. 12, features her new series, “Tree Canopies,” and includes her light-filled sea and landscapes. For more on Wilde, visit, www.twosisterspaint.com.

River Arts is located at 241 US Route 1 in Damariscotta and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 4, and on Sundays from 10-2. It is closed on Mondays.
