Boothbay Region District Nursing Association is pleased to welcome to its board of directors, Marti Booth. Marti has extensive experience providing resources and assistance on the Boothbay peninsula. Past experiences include working as an elementary and resource teacher for over 20 years, volunteering at many local organizations, including the Community Navigator, Community Resource Council, and SEARCH. Marti also serves on the board of Mid Coast Maine Community Action. She lives in East Boothbay with her husband, Larry Brown, and their two Shelties.

Holly Stover, board president, said “The District Nursing program is a valuable organization assisting many of our vulnerable residents. I look forward to the ideas and energy Marti will bring to the board. The program is celebrating its 72nd year, and with her leadership, we can keep the vision of the District Nurse strong and focused for many more years.”

Boothbay Region District Nursing Association was founded in 1952 by Dr. Phillip Gregory along with other concerned residents of the peninsula. It operates as a nonprofit under 501 (c) (3). We are chartered to serve residents of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport. Since July of 2014, we have been truly blessed to have District Nurse Lauri Andrews, RN providing much-needed care in our communities. Lauri makes over 1,350 house calls each year.

Working with the patient’s primary care physician, she provides medication management, chronic disease management, blood draws, patient education, communication with the physician, and other services identified in the plan of care. Early intervention for changes in a patient’s status can prevent emergency episodes and hospitalizations, allowing our friends and family members to remain at home and age in place.

For more information about the services of the District Nurse, please contact Lauri Andrews, RN at 207-633-5533. To support this program, please make checks payable to: Boothbay Region District Nursing Assoc, P.O. Box 554, Boothbay, ME 04537 or call, Kenneth Rayle, Treasurer at 207-633-5533.
