Sydney Meader, the most prolific scorer in Boothbay Region High School field hockey history, is a finalist for the 2017 Miss Maine Field Hockey title, as chosen by the Maine Field Hockey Association (MFHA). Haley Lowell of Messalonskee High School is the other Miss Maine Field Hockey finalist.

Meader, a BRHS senior, scored 38 goals and had three assists this season and tallied 86 goals and 18 assists in her four-year career at BRHS.

“This is a great accomplishment for a Boothbay athlete,” said BRHS Coach Donna Jordan in an email announcing Meader’s nomination. Meader has been named to the MFHA all-star team for the previous two seasons, along with receiving several other awards related to the sport. She has committed to play for the University of Maine field hockey team next season.

The Miss Maine Field Hockey winner will be announced in December at the MFHA All State Banquet. MFHA varsity coaches will vote for the Miss Maine Award recipient. The MFHA is a coaches organization which includes field hockey coaches from all levels of field hockey played in the state of Maine.
