Sydney Meader broke her single-season scoring record, getting all three goals in Boothbay’s 3-0 win over the visiting Dirigo Cougars in Class C field hockey action on Perkins Field Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Meader, a senior who committed to playing for the University of Maine last spring, set the school record with 24 goals last season. So far this season, with four regular season games to play, Meader has scored 25 goals. She has scored 73 goals so far in her career, also a school record.

The visiting Cougars (6-4) put up a good fight, holding Boothbay scoreless the first half, but Boothbay had its chances, getting nine penalty corners to Dirigo’s one in the first half. However, no shots made the net.

Meader’s goals came at the 20:11, 6:57 and 1:44 marks of the second half. Chloe Arsenault assisted on Meader’s first and last goal of the game.

Boothbay, now 9-1, led in penalty corners, 23-2, and shots on goal, 19-1.

The Seahawks are scheduled to play a make-up game at home against Spruce Mountain on Saturday at 11 a.m.
