Dear Editor:

My sister, who receives the Boothbay Register, cut out and sent me the article, “A bygone Memorial Day tradition” (June 1, 2017). My cousin, Tim Hodgdon, and I were in the same 5th grade class together and Hope was our teacher. My grandmother, Mahala Orne, taught me to play drums and I, for six years, was Hope's drummer who marched down to the Green Landing Cemetery. Thank you for the article. It brought back a lot of memories.
