Motorists are reminded of the Maine Federation of Firefighters parade through downtown Boothbay Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 9 beginning at 10 a.m.

“Vehicles will not be getting through Townsend Avenue from the high school to the downtown area beginning about 10 a.m. Saturday,” said Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Bob Hasch. The parade is expected to include about 90 fire trucks and other vehicles and last approximately 30 minutes.

Several downtown streets will also be closed off until the parade ends.

The parade route will go from Townsend Avenue to Oak Street, back onto Townsend Avenue near the Memorial Library, then back to the high school.

The Maine Federation of Firefighters 2017 convention will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 10 with a muster on the high school football field at 10 a.m. No rerouting of traffic will be required with that event.
