"Kevin Beers: At Home in Maine" is a stunning show. It seems that moving to Maine full time agrees with Beers's artistic muse! On Friday, July 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., Gleason Fine Art will host an artist reception from 5-7 p.m. The gallery invites Kevin's many fans to join us in hoisting a glass of Monhegan Brewing Beer in Kevin's honor and having the chance to chat with Kevin himself. The show is open now and runs through July 26.

In the fall of 2014, Kevin Beers did something he and his wife Amy had dreamed of doing — they packed up their Park Slope, Brooklyn, condominium and moved to Maine to become full-time Maine residents. While renting a house in Rockland, they spent the winter of 2014-2015 hunting for their dream home. They finally found it on a side street in Thomaston — a big, white former sea captain's house with a barn big enough for two roomy studios.

For Beers' 2016 summer show, his 15th solo show with the Gleason gallery, he has not only given the gallery more than a dozen of the elegiac Monhegan Island landscapes and panoramas for which he is famous, but also a half-dozen dazzling paintings of Pemaquid in both full sunlight and at sunset, paintings of Thomaston's "painted ladies" (fancy Victorian mansions), paintings of Hendricks Head and Kitten Island on Southport, and a pair of his majestic truck portraits.

Gleason Fine Art, located at 31 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor, is open year-round. Summer hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
