Lincoln Theater will present the third in its free series, “Talking Art in Maine: Intimate Conversations,” on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. with special guest Eric Hopkins.

Talking Art in Maine is a series of intimate, one to one conversations between artist, Jane Dahmen, and notable artists who have made a substantial contribution to the arts in the state of Maine.

The evening will be a visual presentation and conversation reflecting on Eric's vision of nature, art, science, philosophy, matter and spirit.

Hopkins, who gained critical acclaim for his aerial view paintings of the islands of Penobscot Bay, will discuss his work from the early glass pieces to his pyrographs, oils, gouache and mixed media paintings on paper and canvas, to his latest relief paintings on wood.

Hopkins will also discuss his upcoming road trip to Puget Sound.

The artist created a short film comprised of photographs of the forces of nature; the currents, waves and forms that fuel his art will also be shown. Hopkins continually pushes his boundaries to discover new pathways “into the source of where painting comes from; the mystery of life and spirit.”

Following the conversation, Hopkins and Dahmen will take questions from the audience.

Hopkins will also sign copies of the book, “Eric Hopkins, Above and Beyond,” by Carl Little. Said Little, “Hopkins is an American action artist. The world spins; he paints and performs; we look on in wonder.”
