Ocean Point Column: Water, a birth and a passing

Wed, 05/02/2018 - 10:30am

Despite the colder than normal temperatures and what seemed to be the endless winter, it’s wonderful to see Ocean Point beginning to come alive again.

Thanks once more to the efforts of the BRWD for getting us all up and running as I’ve heard from several people that they weren’t quite sure it would happen as quickly as it did due to snow and cold.

I love catching up with Ocean Point friends that you haven’t seen in awhile; I was happy to see Pete and Mary Ripley, Amy and Greg Arnpriester and their boys Luke and Zack and Sarah Goodrich Hoffman and her son Max and new baby James. Congratulations to Sarah and Noah on the birth of James and to Ocean Point grandparents Bob and Sue Goodrich as well.

Unfortunately, I do have very sad news to report, Jim Dunklee passed away on April 14 in Farmingdale, Maine. Jim and his wife Kathy have been residents of Ocean Point for several years now. Jim truly loved being at Ocean Point whether it was sitting on his porch conversing with family and friends, walking along Shore Road or more recently cruising in his boat on a beautiful day. I had the privilege of working with Jim both as a member of the OPCT Board of Trustees as well as the AD Search Committee. Jim will be remembered for his great smile, quick humor, his positive demeanor, love of Ocean Point and above all the love of his family and friends.

Our condolences to his wife Kathy, son Dylan and his wife Stacia, his son Nate and his wife Erin, grandchildren: Bowen, Emmett, Kyla and Liam, his mother Barbara and father Barry, also Jim’s brothers Gary and Glen their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the Jim Dunklee Scholarship Fund c/o Dunklee and Nott Investment and Retiring Planning, 19 Central St., Hallowell ME. 04347.

Our president Mike Anderson will be sending the spring mailing very soon via email which will include a letter from him and the 2018 Summer Activities Schedule. All of this information will be posted on the website and the blog. Please be sure that Jen Klein has your updated contact information, as previously stated Jen is currently accepting 2018 memberships.

I look forward to seeing many of you in the upcoming weeks ahead.

    Have a great week!
