Ocean Point Column: Wilson Chapel, memorial service and more

Tue, 06/19/2018 - 12:00pm

It remains relatively quiet here and I suspect that it has something to do with schools making up snow days. Activity did pick up over the weekend howeve,r it has quieted down significantly. You can actually move around town with ease but I’m sure that will change with Windjammer Days scheduled June 24 through June 30. This year’s event will, I believe, be the largest with 17 schooners participating and lots of activities planned. More information can be found at boothbayharborwindjammerdays.org,

Sunday services at Wilson Memorial Chapel will resume for the season on Sunday, June 24 and will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Carrick, chaplain, Wyoming Seminary Kingston, Pennsylvania. Rev. Carrick along with his wife Jill and daughter Grace summer here at Ocean Point. Services begin at 9:30 a.m. and all are welcome!

Regular activities are planned for the week of July 2. Nick will arrive June 22 and begin work on June 24 spending the week preparing the Casino for the upcoming season. Please check the website or the Casino for the schedule.

Donna Logan will be selling barbecue tickets again this year and I will provide that schedule next week.

I mistakenly reported that Jim Brown’s Memorial Service was to be held on July 7 — it’s actually July 8 at 2 p.m. at the Wilson Memorial Chapel with a reception following at the Casino from 3:30-5 p.m.

The weather forecast appears to be quite good this week so enjoy and have a great week!
