Owls Head artist featured at Miles

The Miles Memorial Hospital Hall Gallery in Damariscotta presents paintings in pastel by Nancy Lee Lovley, PSA. The show will run through July 25.

Lovley lives in Owls Head, the setting for many of her scenic paintings. She is perhaps best known for her pastel portraits, having completed many portrait commissions. She is particularly sensitive to the special considerations in painting children. She is also skilled in communicating the sense of character and personality of the people she paints, as well as achieving a likeness to the physical image.

Though virtually self-taught, Lovley has developed her style as that of classical realism. Her method of painting has developed through reading, attending workshops, and studying works of art in galleries and museums. She studied briefly with Daniel E. Greene at his studio in North Salem, N.Y.

She has been accepted into numerous juried national, and international art shows, in New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

Lovley’s memberships include: Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America; Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Maine; The Portrait Society of America; Juried Member of the Degas Pastel Society; and Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod.

Her gallery representation includes: Boothbay Region Arts Foundation; Camden Falls Gallery; and Portage Co., Woolwich.

Lovley is available for class instruction in pastel, in scenic and in portrait painting.
