There's an interesting project/workshop coming up at Boothbay Region Art Foundation on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. … learning to paint on an iPad.

Yes indeed, Boothbay artist and BRAF member Bruce MacDonald has been painting on his iPad with the app artrage.

MacDonald says it isn't necessary to have an iPad, but it sure would be helpful! He advises that an iPad 2 or later will be needed to run the application that can be downloaded at https://www.artrage.com for $4.99.

It is also recommended for participants to have a stylus. Basic styli are available at Radio Shack or Staples for around $9.

“Depending on interest, I'll do a quick demo painting of a still life, painting directly from reality, and also show how to paint using reference photos,” MacDonald said from his Boothbay studio.

“I will project the work-session onto a screen, so everyone can see whether they have an iPad with them or not.”

BRAF has a busy schedule for January and February … there's the John Butke art classes, the Friday Open Studio … for more information, visit www.boothbayartists.org or call 207-633-2703.
