Parent programs gear up at Healthy Kids

Parenting is complicated business. Parents are trying to be “authentic and real” and decide whether they are a “Book De Jour Parent,” a “Helicopter Parent,” a “Panda Dad,” or a “Submarine Parent.” Additionally, today’s parents have to juggle jobs, school/day care, activities, doctor’s appointments and play dates. And with all of that, the issues of children’s growth and development, behaviors, discipline, sleep, nutrition, emotional needs and more, continue to be hard work especially in this busy world.

To help parents, Healthy Kids is offering several parenting classes and groups that provide an opportunity for parents to meet other parents, make friends and bounce ideas around with in addition to the learning the most recent information on parenting topics. The programs offer a chance to go beyond Google and get evidence based parenting information and talk face to face with others. Programs include: Active Parenting 0-5 and 5-12, Magic 123, Active Parenting for Stepfamilies, Coffee Talk for new moms, weekly playgroups in Damariscotta, Boothbay and Waldoboro and individual workshops on a variety of parenting issues. Also, child care is provided upon request.
