Pemaquid Art Gallery now open for the season

The Pemaquid Group of Artists kicked off its 87th year with a gala opening reception at the Pemaquid Gallery in Lighthouse Park on June 7. The event was very well attended by the artists, their guests, friends and fans.

The Pemaquid Gallery exhibit this year includes oils, watercolors, pastels, gouaches, acrylics, ceramics, mixed media, marquetry, bas-relief and sculpture, as well as two panels of miniature works. All of the art work in the gallery is original; there are no prints or photography.

The exhibiting artists this year include: Barbara Applegate, Debra Arter, Bruce Babb, Julie Babb, Stephen Busch, Mark B. Chesebro, Trudi B. Curtis, William Curtis, Dianne S. Dolan, Peggy Farrell, Helen V. Glendinning, Claire Hancock, Kay S. Hannah, Jean N. Harris, Hannah Ineson, Will Kefauver, Jan Kilburn, Barbara Klein, Patti Leavitt, Sally Loughridge, Marlene Loznicka, Nancy O. MacKinnon, Judy Nixon, Bernice M. Rosenthal, Paul Sherman, Marie Sinclair, Pande Stevens, Liliana Thelander, Ernest Thompson and Bob Vaughan.

This year the Pemaquid Group of Artists will also be holding a raffle for two donated paintings; the proceeds will go to the Group’s charitable outreach fund, which helps support local art education programs and sponsors a free pass to the Portland Museum of Art, available by reservation through Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta.

The New Harbor gallery is now open to the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closing for the season on Columbus Day, Oct. 12.
