Pharmacist to discuss new medication options at Diabetes Support Group

Sat, 10/28/2017 - 7:30am

LincolnHealth Pharmacist Brent Peters will discuss diabetes medication options with a focus on relatively new medications at the Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The group will meet in the Diabetes Education Room on the third floor of the LincolnHealth-Miles Campus.

“There are a lot of options out there and a lot of things have been changing in the last few years” Peters stated. “If people are doing well with their current therapy, they may not need to change medications. But if people are struggling with their blood sugar levels, there are more options available now that may help.”

A few of the medications Peters plans to focus on are Trulicity, Farxiga, and Invokana. Peters has been a pharmacist for more than 20 years and works on the LincolnHealth–Miles Campus.

The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets every other month on the fourth Thursday to allow participants to share experiences and to know that they do not have to deal with diabetes alone. Please note: The November meeting is on the third Thursday because Thanksgiving falls on the following Thursday.
