Progress?

Dear Editor:

After reading Joe Gelarden’s column in the Aug. 31 issue of the Register, I had to comment.

When did the construction project ever stop? The center of town has been nothing but a dust bowl all summer, an eyesore to the tourist traffic and residents.

He (Gelarden) said the town manager and inspector were keeping a close eye on things. Apparently, the missed the utility pole being placed in the middle of Country Club Road. Watch out when the barricades are moved.

The original set of plans called for the public restrooms to be built at the south end of the Common. Why were they built on the east side? I thought that was designated as a parking area. Must have a different set of plans than the one the public saw.

Boothbay is really progressing; there will be street lights leading to the country club entrance and the roundabout. People can redeem their bottles and buy “pot” in one stop. This is progress at its best!
