‘Quick Draw’ draws lots of art lovers during Harbor Fest

On Thursday, Sept. 10, thirty painters set up their easels at the Boothbay Common during the weekly farmers market.

They were there for an event called Quick Draw, one of many involving painting and art during Harbor Fest 2015.

Painters from as far away as Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina joined several from all over Maine, along with locals Brad Betts, Tony van Hasselt, John Butke and Gail Morrison.

This particular event was a bit of a challenge for even the most talented and accomplished artists because their paintings had to be completed in two hours, beginning at 10 a.m. and putting on the finishing dabs by noon. They all came through with flying colors.

See photos beginning with the first brush-strokes or sketches through to the final finished paintings. All are for sale and will be shown at Harborfields Waterfront Cottages, 24 McKown Point Road, West Boothbay Harbor, on Friday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 12.

See more photos of the event in the A Stroke of Art photo gallery.
