The Bristol Road Galleries

Quilting, painting, sculpting demos and art sale next week

Final ‘Guests on the Lawn’ event Sept. 25-27
Tue, 09/22/2015 - 12:00pm

The Bristol Road Galleries, presents the final “Guests on the Lawn” event of the 2015 season Sept. 25-27. This event brings together an eclectic selection of artists appearing on the lawns and under the tents of the Bristol Road collaboration of artists. Artists painting en plein air, sculpting, and a quilting demonstration will be part of the weekend’s activities. All artwork is for sale.

There will be a reception for visitors at the Kefauver Studio & Gallery and the Kilburn Gallery on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 4-6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

“I love these pop-up events as we get to bring new artists into our galleries and mix up the display,” Will Kefauver said. “There’s such a lot of great talent in the area and it’s great to be able to get their work even if only for a short time. It’s also good for the artists to get their work seen in different locations and without long-term commitments — often a chance to just show off their most recent creations.”

Jan Kilburn, Kilburn Gallery, will have a large group of artists painting en plein air on Saturday. She will host watercolorists Bonnie Beck, Peggy Farrell, and Virginia Forrest, and oil painters Hannah Ineson, Judy Nixon, and Carol Wiley. In addition to her guests, fellow Bristol Road Galleries artists Marnie Sinclair, sculptor, and Kathleen Horst, watercolors, will join the large group on Saturday.

Kefauver will host fiber artist Merrie Handfinger and watercolor artist Joy Makon, both from New York. Handfinger divides her time between her fiber art and her work as a chiropractor. Her interest in mind/body kinesthetics is evident in both of these efforts. Makon is a watercolorist and former colleague of Kefauver’s from Scholastic Inc.

Kefauver’s third guest artist is Sally Loughridge of South Bristol, an oil painter and jewelry artist. Her work is exhibited in galleries throughout the Midcoast, and her unique and beautiful necklaces and earrings are on display in the Kefauver gallery.

All three of Will Kefauver’s guest artists will be at the Kefauver Studio & Gallery on Saturday, Sept. 26, demonstrating their work, 1-4 p.m.

The Kilburn Gallery is at 168 Bristol Road, and the Kefauver Studio & Gallery is at 144 Bristol Road. The Bristol Road galleries are within walking distance of each other. Feel free to park at one gallery, and walk to the others.
