River Arts' members show opens July 4

River Arts in Damariscotta is having a public opening reception of its eighth annual member show, Friday, June 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. The artwork submitted by members for this reflects the “artist choice” free from the constraints of a themed show. The 120 works on exhibit includes 10 sculptures and represent a wide variety of media and styles. The exhibition runs through July 24.

Boothbay region and Wiscasset area artists in the exhibit: James Kipfer, Alna; from Boothbay: Ralph Moxcey, John G. Butke, Mark T. Reilly; from Boothbay Harbor: Carol Fisher, Scott See, Richard Macdonald; from East Boothbay: Sally Giddings Smith, Melanie Howe; from Edgecomb: Virginia Forrest, Sandi Hersom; from Richmond: Patrina Fabbin Curtis; from Trevett: Jennifer Litchfield, Peter Felsenthal; from West Boothbay Harbor: Lindsay Haywaka; from Wiscasset: Leonard Meiselman, Judi Taylor; from Woolwich: Sarah S. Harvey, Dan Peterman.

In addition, visitors can view an exhibition featuring the artwork of Wally Schweighauser, watercolor and pencil artist, who at nearly 102 is still creating artwork, along with work by ceramic artist Tom Fontaine, and Wally’s daughter, Delly.

This year’s annual member celebration will also include a table with published books authored and/or illustrated by River Arts members as well as the 2014 River Arts Program book full of classes offered and the full exhibition schedule.

The 2nd annual fundraising art raffle with works donated by: Isabella Corwin, Kerstin Engman, Petrea Noyes, Barbara Roberts and Sarah Wilde will be launched and local musician, Dave Martin will perform during the opening.
