River Arts in Damariscotta and the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association (SVCA) is holding an opening reception for the exhibition “Sheepscot Watershed” on Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m. The two organizations teamed up this year to highlight the arts and nature through a series of events, culminating in this exhibition portraying the flora, fauna and vistas of the Sheepscot Watershed from Boothbay Harbor to Freedom. The exhibition will hang until November 5.

Local artists in this show: John Butke and Mark Reilly, Boothbay; Sally Smith, East Boothbay; Virginia Forrest and Jorge Pena, Wiscasset; James A. Kipfer, Alna; Glenda Drum and Hannah Ineson, Damariscotta; Judy Nixon, Bristol; Helen Warner, Newcastle; Jane Bowman, New Harbor; Roberta Goschke, Waldoboro; Marcia Brandwein, Pemaquid.

The River Arts fundraising raffle winners will also be drawn for 6 beautiful Louis Goldstone pastel paintings.  Raffle tickets are still available. Mac Economy of Camden, will also be celebrating the opening of his new abstract show in the West Gallery.

The juror for this show is Bob Keyes, writer for the Portland Press Herald.

River Arts is located at 241 US Route 1 in Damariscotta and is open Tuesday through Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 10-2.
