Role reversal

Mon, 10/02/2017 - 4:00pm

Dear Editor:

Back during the meetings on the roundabout, we were told many things about the change that would take place, but were we told that the ground would be removed from the monument? Is there no respect anymore? Then the day came to vote.

Remember how our public officials recommended we vote “yes,” with those words printed on the ballot. It indicates to me that though they were voted in by the people, to work for the people, that the role seems to have reversed. Some of us may not have the knowledge and qualifications of those members, but it has come to the point that we need to have instructions on how to vote.

Boothbay is not a city. It has always been a beautiful, friendly town. Is this being taken from us, too?

Some of this mess cannot be blamed on the DOT. I think a lot of our problems come from our own backyard.

Remember what Jack Webb on the TV show “Dragnet” used to say ... “Just the true facts, ma’am.”
