The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library is pleased to host an exhibit of the photography of RoseAnne Holladay during the month of June. Entitled “Maine Water and Sky,” the exhibit will feature Holladay’s seascapes, landscapes, and aerials that speak of her love for the natural beauty of the Midcoast area. Please join us for an artist’s reception on Wednesday, June 7 from 5 – 7 p.m.

Growing up in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, RoseAnne was always fascinated with the splendor of the world around her and spent many hours exploring it. This fascination led her to a degree in biology from Bates College in Lewiston.

She was introduced to Boothbay Harbor when she spent a summer working for the Maine Department of Marine Resources. It was here that she was also introduced to Breck Holladay – now her husband. They settled on the neighboring Pemaquid peninsula in the town of New Harbor and raised their family. RoseAnne and Breck have three grown children and are anticipating the arrival of the 10th grandchild this June.

After raising her family and having a satisfying career as a high school math and computer teacher, Holladay developed a passion for photography and has devoted much time to photographing the scenic places found in the Midcoast Maine area. Enjoying all forms of natural beauty, the ocean holds a special place in her heart.

“Whether sitting on the rocks in front of a pounding surf, skimming across the surface of the ocean in our boat, or flying over the coast in a small plane - when I'm there, I'm in my happy place,” says Holladay. "My aim is to communicate through the medium of photography the same awe and joy I feel when in the presence of such amazing beauty,” she adds.

Recently Holladay has added custom aerial photography of islands, houses, and property to her repertoire, taking her photographs from the window of a small plane often piloted by her son.
