Saltwater Artists Gallery, just a half mile from the entrance to the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park, is welcoming some very exciting new members for the 2015 season.

Enjoying its 48th year this cooperative gallery, these new members join our 26 award-winning artists whose work in both fine art and crafts fill the seven room-gallery, offering visitors paintings, jewelry, photography, woodturning, pottery, stained glass, prints, and note cards with something for everyone who wants a work of art crafted by contemporary Midcoast Maine artists.

Anita Roelz from Woolwich, an award-winning metalsmith whose hand-forged jewelry was featured in 50 gifts from Maine in Downeast Magazine’s December 2014 issue. Working in sterling and fine silver, copper, brass, leather and Maine beach stones, she creates unique patterns in each of her designs letting the metal and stones guide the work, allowing her collectors to feel the energy of the ocean and the hammer strikes in each of her pieces.

Mary Buergin from Portland Springs is a painter who works in both oils and pastels and has enjoyed recognition and awards for her landscape paintings following a successful career as a fashion illustrator. Her work was published in American Artist in 2008 and paints the majority of her work en plein air. Since moving to Maine in 2013 she has been inspired to paint nothing but this beautiful state and coastline.

Also new to the gallery for 2015 is Renee Lammers who came to Maine in 2009, living in an Airstream RV on Mt. Desert Island through two winters. She is now living in Bucksport and continues her great success painting in oil on copper. The copper provides a wonderful ground, and is very archival with little need for conservation efforts. Her paintings are luminous and capture the Maine coast in all its many moods. She is represented by several other galleries in Maine as well and is looking forward to being a part of Saltwater.

The gallery is located at 3056 Bristol Road (Route 130 S) in New Harbor. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day weekend (May 22-25) and the weekends of May 30-31, June 6-7 and June 13-14. Starting on June 20, Saltwater Artists Gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
