Seahawks host Mt. View in quarterfinals

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 2:30pm

The third-seeded Boothbay Region High School field hockey team will host the sixth-seeded Mt. View Mustangs in the quarterfinal round of the Class C North playoffs on Perkins Field Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m.

Boothbay, at 12-2, won seven straight games after losing its first game at home to Winthrop in early September and finished 10-1 after that loss, which included a 2-1 overtime loss to Spruce Mountain at home last week.

Mt. View, which plays its games in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference, finished the regular season with a 6-8 record.

“Mt. View faces mostly B schools in their schedule,” said BRHS Coach Donna Jordan in an email. “We have no common opponents on our schedules. They  started out slowly and have turned it on during the last half of the season. At the midway point of the season they were 1-6 and then finished the second half with a 5-2 record. Their top scorers are two freshmen that we will need to stop. We look for it to be a good game.”

The winner of Wednesday’s game will go on to face the winner of the Dexter (no. 2) and Orono (no. 7) game. The semifinal games are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20.
