letter to the editor

Seeking further clarity

    Dear Editor:

Dr. Reilly’s explanation in the July 13 edition of the Register (Letters, "Disagrees with letter") on the complexities of the security policies related to handling government information was very thorough and it’s clear he is very knowledgeable in the area.

As I’m not expert in the field of government email regardless of security level, maybe Dr. Reilly could clarify a few points for me:

    1. As an employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), could you establish your own private email server at home to host your official LANL work related email?

    2. Would it be a violation of LANL email policy not to have copies of all your LANL work related emails backed up on an LANL server?

    3. Could you have a member of your staff email copies of official LANL emails to their personal non-LANL non-secure laptop, so those emails could be printed off on the staff members’ home printer?

    4. Does former Secretary of State Clinton take any personal responsibility for the damage to her campaign and the future of our country caused by her establishing a private non-secure email server to conduct State Department business on in the first place?

To be fair to Dr. Reilly, I know the answers to the above questions. They are no, yes, not likely and of course not.
