Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo) has appointed Senator Dana Dow (R-Lincoln) to serve a two-year term representing Maine on the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Budgets & Revenue Committee.

“I have heard tremendous things about the work NCSL is doing to connect legislators and staff from around the country on important policy issues that are of importance to each and every state,” said Sen. Dow. “I am looking forward to the work we will accomplish over the next two years.”

NCSL is a national bipartisan organization based out of Washington, D.C. with a mission to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures by providing legislators and staff with tools, resources and information to craft sound policy. They also promote innovation and communication between state legislatures to ensure the states maintain a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.

The Budgets & Revenue Committee is one of nine bipartisan policy committees that will meet on a semiannual basis each year in Washington, D.C. and at the NCSL Legislative Summit. This year’s annual summit will be held in Boston.

Senate President Thibodeau said, “As chair of the Maine Legislature’s Taxation Committee, Senator Dow is responsible for navigating our state’s complicated tax structure and finding common ground on the most pressing fiscal matters of our time. I am certain that will make him a valuable asset to this committee.”
