A Lincoln County grand jury indicted several people September 11 on charges stemming from alleged incidents at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. One incident involved an inmate allegedly assaulting four corrections officers. The rest involved contraband, mostly drugs, but one was a comb sharpened into a weapon, a sheriff's official said.

In the case of the alleged attacks on four officers, Kelby K. Hampson, 20, of Bath is charged with four counts of Class B assault on an officer  May 22. Hampson kicked Officer Timothy Willette in the face, punched Officer Paul Rubashkin in the face several times, kicked Officer Eric Major in the head, and spat on Officer James Bailey, Sheriff's Lt. Mike Murphy said.

Hampson is scheduled to be arraigned in Lincoln County Superior Court on September 27. The defendant has two assault convictions from 2011 and a domestic violence assault conviction from March 2012, according to court documents.

In other indictments, several contraband cases resulted from increased drug searches at the jail, Murphy said. The grand jury charged Robert D. Green II, 44, of Edgecomb, Brandon J. Smith, 26, of New Sharon, John W. Grotton, 26, of Augusta, Nathan C. Poland, 31, of Old Orchard, Jacob Russell, 27, of Bass Harbor, and Daniel W. Porter, 25, of Jackson, with one count each of Class C trafficking in prison contraband. Each incident allegedly involved a drug and occurred in May 2012.

Daniel M. Jackson, 31, of Augusta was also indicted on a charge of Class C trafficking in prison contraband, involving “a shank.” The item was a comb that had been sharpened as a weapon, Murphy said.

Jackson, Grotton and Smith were also each indicted on one count of Class E violation of condition of release.

Barter, 21, of Boothbay, one count of Class B theft by unauthorized taking of more than $10,000 in silver and dishes, on or about May 18, 2012 in Boothbay; Paul S.
