Singing opportunities with Blanchard-Fleming Duo

Mon, 09/04/2017 - 8:30am

Conductor Linda Blanchard and pianist Sean Fleming, married musical duo, have been collaborating in creating choral music in the Midcoast of Maine for over 20 years, leading Sheepscot Valley Chorus, St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church choirs. If you love to sing, one or more of these groups is sure to be a good fit! Read on to learn about singing opportunities.

Sheepscot Valley Chorus is a non-auditioned chorus based in Wiscasset. We rehearse Tuesday evenings, 7-9 p.m., at the Congregational Church, Roue. 1, Wiscasset.  This year’s winter concert, Sunday, Dec. 3, will feature the spectacular Rutter “Gloria,” performed with brass. Our season kicks off with a potluck supper before rehearsal, Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Potluck offering optional — we’ll have plenty! For more information, email Blanchard at lindamaine@mac.com or call 380-2768.

.St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is an auditioned community chorus rehearsing Wednesday evenings, 7-9 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. Our signature winter concerts, “Ceremony of Lessons and Carols,” will be Dec. 8 and 9 and feature a string quartet. Sopranos and altos will be able to sing with a straight tone, and all singers will have a finely tuned ear and be eager for a challenge. Practice materials are provided for learning music at home. To schedule an audition, contact Blanchard through our website at www.ceciliachoir.org or call 380-2768.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Senior Choir rehearses Thursdays, 7-9 p.m. at St. Andrew’s in Newcastle and provides music for the 10 a.m. Sunday services. This dedicated group usually sings one anthem every week, and leads the congregation in singing a psalm and hymns. We welcome new members! For information about joining, email Blanchard, lindamaine@mac.com, or call 380-2768.
