Southport native honored

Holly Houston, art educator for the past 12 years at Yarmouth High School, was recognized by the Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) on April 27 as their 2019 Maine Art Educator of the Year. This honor was presented for her contributions, many behind the scenes, to promote art in schools and to instill her students with a love of creativity and expression.

Holly is a member of the Boothbay Region High School class of 1985. Graduating from Bowdoin College in 1989, she received her master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine, and in 2012, National Board Certification.

The daughter of Southport residents, John and Jane Lunt, Holly and husband, Bob, are summer residents of Southport.

The Maine Art Education Association is a statewide professional organization whose members are committed to excellence in visual arts education.
