Southport Yacht Club’s annual arts and crafts show Aug. 13 and 14

Tue, 08/09/2016 - 10:45am

The annual Arts and Crafts Show at the Southport Yacht Club will be held Aug. 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

This show, which has been held since 1968, was started to promote the artistic talents of local artists and artisans. The crafts are all unique and not usually found at other events. We feature hand knits, fashionable jewelry, stitchery, wood and pottery crafts, handmade soaps, shell art and for the first time this year alpaca wool and other items. You may find that just perfect gift for someone.

The art, which is displayed in the Junior Building, has had a focus on regional scenes. Among our contributors we have some very talented photographers whose work you may not find elsewhere. We are fortunate to have about 40 artists and artisans, some returning artists as well as some fresh new talent. A percentage of the sales will go to the sailing foundation to provide scholarships and have top quality instructors.

Plan to stop by during the weekend and perhaps use the opportunity to have a bite to eat at Oliver’s which is nearby and has wonderful eating space to view the harbor.
