Standing for Healthcare: Lincoln County Indivisible joins Our Revolution on the bridge

More than 190 area residents gathered on the Newcastle-Damariscotta bridge on Business Route 1 over two hours on Feb. 25 in support of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. The rally was organized to send a message to Maine's Congressional delegation about the strength of public support for healthcare as a basic human right. Spearheaded by the Our Revolution organization that formed around the candidacy of Senator Bernie Sanders, similar healthcare rallies were held across the country on Saturday. Lincoln County Indivisible (LCI) hosted the local rally on the bridge.

LCI is part of the growing "Indivisible" movement in the United States that began after the 2016 election. LCI's mandate is to mobilize and focus grassroots engagement with Lincoln County's Congressional delegation (Senators Collins and King and Representative Pingree) in order to resist the Trump agenda. Currently, there are over 40 Indivisible groups in Maine and over 6,000 throughout the United States. For more information about LCI, contact info@lcimaine.com.

Our Revolution (ourrevolution.com) was formed after Senator Sanders' campaign ended after the 2016 National Democratic Convention, with the goals of revitalizing American democracy, empowering progressive leaders, and elevating political consciousness.
