A team of experienced counselors and state and federal agency staff will present a morning workshop Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for people planning a new business or considering changes to their existing enterprise.

The full session at the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission features Steve Veazey, Maine District director of SCORE, David Hill, Certified Small Business Development Center counselor, Jaimie Logan, governor's account executive with the Maine Dept. of Economic and Community Development, Shane Beckim, Maine Technology Institute, and Bill Card, economic development specialist for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Veazey (SCORE) and Hill (SBDC) will share essential steps to successful business start-up and management, covering business planning, financial and operations management, marketing, and more. This workshop is intended to be interactive, so attendees can get support and feedback tailored to specific issues and questions.

Beckim will discuss MTI’s programs and resources, including the Seed Grant program, that help innovators make progress getting products or services to the market. Logan will discuss state business incentives (Employment Tax Increment Financing and Pine Tree Development Zone, and the Maine in Maine program). Card will highlight SBA’s many small business resources and financing tools.

The workshop is free of charge, generously supported by the TD Charitable Foundation, and is one in a series of business workshops organized by Maine SCORE, SBDC, DEDC, SBA, and the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission. The LCRPC is located at 297 Bath Road in Wiscasset, opposite Big Al's. Breakfast will be provided. Please call 882-5983 to register or online at www.lcrpc.org
