"Spider-Man: Homecoming” - Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

The film’s all-star cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is rated PG13 and plays through Thursday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

“War For The Planet of the Apes" -  is the third chapter of the critically acclaimed science fiction franchise that follows the confrontation between the apes and the humans for control of Earth. Caesar (Andy Serkis),  and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

Reviewing for The New York Times, A. O. Scott writes, “This entry in the series, directed by Matt Reeves, is the grimmest episode so far, and also the strongest, a superb example of clear thinking wedded to inventive technique in popular film making.”

“War For The Planet of the Apes" - Rated PG13, it  plays at 7 p.m. Friday, July 28 through Monday,  July 31 at 7 p.m. and at 2 and 7 p.m. on  Sunday, July 30.

"Despicable Me 3"  -  Boothbay Harbor's most popular summer movie (so far) is returning with the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters-Margo, Edith and Agnes- and the  Minions. Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central's global phenomenon “South Park” and the Broadway smash “The Book of Mormon.”  "Despicable Me 3, Rated PG, plays Tuesday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 3 at 7 p..m.

NT Live: “Angels in America: Part II Perestroika” - America in the mid-1980’s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration, New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell. Andrew Garfield (Silence, Hacksaw Ridge) plays Prior Walter along with a cast including Denise Gough (People, Places and Things), Nathan Lane (The Producers), James McArdle (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Russell Tovey (The Pass).

This new staging of Tony Kushner’s multi-award winning two-part play, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, is directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and War Horse). The saga of Kushner’s epic play continues with Part Two. Rated R; run time: 4 hours, 20 minutes with two intermissions. Broadcast live from London on Thursday, July 27 at 2 p.m. and rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

“My Cousin Rachel” - A dark and layered romance, My Cousin Rachel, based on the novel by British author Daphne du Maurier, tells the story of a young Englishman who plots revenge against his mysterious and beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian.  His feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling helplessly and obsessively in love with her. Rated PG-13; run time: 1 hour, 46 minutes. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30; plays at 7 p.m. only on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Skidompha Community Read Closing Ceremony Celebration - Join the finale of this year’s community read, The Boys in the Boat, by Daniel James Brown. The evening ceremony will feature live music by Novel Jazz, footage from the 1936 Olympic race, filmed interview with the author, refreshments, and raffle drawings.  Tickets available in advance at the library. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Y-Arts Theater Music Camp presents “Peter Pan Jr.” - Campers in grades 1-9 immerse themselves in the art of musical theater during this two-week day camp, which focuses is on all areas of the dramatic arts and culminates on a junior Broadway musical. The show is picked based on the campers in each particular session. This summer the shows will be chosen from “Peter Pan Jr.,” “Once on this Island Jr.,” “Honk Jr.,” and “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” Come support the stars of the future on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 1 and 5 p.m.
