Tony van Hasselt holds plein air watercolor workshop July 24-26

Popular watercolor painter, author and teacher Tony van Hasselt will be your instructor and guide for three days, July 24-26, of painting at different locations in the Midcoast Maine area. 

Van Hasselt is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), and author of the Watercolor Fix-It Book, A Studio Visit,  Outdoor Watercolor Workshop, Painting with the White of Your Paper. Van Hasselt has also produced a number of popular instructional videos. His current videos include: Fun with Figures, Creative Realism In Watercolor, How To Mix Greens & Foliage, Watercolor Fun in Nature's Studio, and the Building Blocks of Painting. 

A highly sought after instructor whose workshops are held at many international locations, van Hasselt is renowned for his clear and entertaining teaching style. 

"I'm a ham. I love to teach. We all want to be better, so we are all rowing in the same direction,” he said. “I have empathy with those who honestly want to improve and remember my own struggles. And in watercolor, those struggles are always there. Watercolor keeps you humble." 

Artists of all skill levels will meet each morning at The Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset, then leave for the painting location and return for an afternoon critique.
