Traffic control plan, possible date changes for pump replacement

Thu, 10/12/2017 - 4:30pm

The work under way on Union Street is a test fitting, according to Boothbay Harbor Sewer District Superintendent Chris Higgins.

That work will be done Friday and there will also be another one or two test fittings Friday on Oak Street, Higgins said.

Higgins said Sargent is anticipating a change in the start and finish to the pump replacement project. The project was formerly set to begin with the Oak Street portion. Sargent is considering starting with the Union Street portion instead. This would move up the alternating, one-way traffic and the detour around Union Street to Thursday Oct. 19 through Wednesday Oct. 25 while the Oak Street closure between Townsend Avenue and McClintock Street, Oak Street closure from Howard Street to McKown Street, and temporary two-way traffic on Townsend Avenue would move to Wednesday, Oct. 25 through Wednesday, Nov. 1.
