Trevett Column: Meeting guest speaker, pizza and more

Sun, 05/06/2018 - 8:45am

Plan on being at the BICA hall on May 16 at 6 p.m. for a fun evening. We will have a guest speaker from the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council. The Boothbay Region Community Resource Council assists persons in need in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Southport by providing funds, programs, social services information and referrals in a confidential and collaborative manner.

Our guest will talk about how the Council determines who on the island might need some help and what BICA can do to provide that help. The funds that are allocated to the BICA Community Assistance account are used to cover such items as heating bills, gas cards for doctor’s visits, etc. It will be an interesting talk. Lorraine and friends are asking for folks to bring an appetizer, main or side dish or a dessert to share. Coffee and water will be available or you can bring your own beverage.

Not enough can be said about Pizza Night with Chef Alan. Maybe he should establish a pizza parlor on East Side Road. The dinner was over the top. At least 16 pizzas came out of the ovens. Did anyone get a slice of the hot dog and baked bean pizza? Some happy diner gave it four stars. Gigantic thanks to Alan for all the shopping and chopping and creating the many combinations of pizza. And thanks to Judy, Paul and Louise for their part as sous chefs. And another thanks to Bill, Robin and Robert for help with the clean up.

Don’t forget the June 30 yard and plant sale. Please remember that we do not take clothing or oversized items. Call Louise (350-4032) if you have items to donate now or if you have any questions.
