Vote at polls May 5, meet May 6

On Friday, May 5, Boothbay Harbor voters will decide whether or not to authorize selectmen to match funds for permanent repair of the footbridge.

Article 4 in the town warrant reads, “To see if the town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to commit matching funds of up to $250,000 in the event that a Small Harbor Improvement Program (SHIP) grant is awarded to the town for the purpose of future renovations to the Boothbay Harbor footbridge.”

Voters will also cast ballots for selectmen seeking re-election. Denise Griffin, currently chair, and Selectman Tricia Warren are running unopposed for repeat three-year terms on the board.

Boothbay Harbor Community School District School Committee Chair Larry Colcord wants to renew his seat for another three years. He is also running unopposed. CSD Trustee Richard Hallinan hopes to serve three more years and Ronnie Campbell, serving as an interim trustee since Cameron Mitchell resigned, is running for a two-year position.

Henry Tedeschi Jr. seeks another three years as a Sewer District trustee, Ralph Welch is seeking three more years as a Cemetery District trustee, and David Tibbetts is running unopposed for a three-year trustee position on the Boothbay Region Water District.

Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Boothbay Harbor Fire Department.

Town meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6, in the Boothbay Region Elementary School gymnasium.
