“What Thoughts Become” art show and reception

Thu, 07/13/2017 - 11:00am

Every artist selects a medium or two at certain points in their creative development, but each piece of art requires its own set of decisions and thoughts as the artist creates. The July show at Stable Gallery in Damariscotta is called “What Thoughts Become” to highlight the thought processes integral to making quality art and fine crafts.

The show opens Friday, July 14 with an artists’ reception from 5-7 p.m.  The public is invited to come talk with the artists about their work and art making. The exhibit will be on display thru Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Helene Farrar, one of this month’s featured painters, seeks to “create meaningful whimsy” with her varied bird paintings.  Her “What we Carry” series is  “a dialogue about the depth of our human nature.”

Other artists include potter Ingrid Bathe, abstract painter Penelope Moodey; watercolor and inks artist Jon Luoma; bird carver Edwin Hawkes; metal worker Nicholas Downing; watercolor painter Polly Smith; and Rosalind Welsh, jeweler and oil painter.

The Stable Gallery is at 26 Water Street, Damariscotta, and is open  daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit stablegallerymaine.com or call 207-563-1991.
