Why move to the Boothbay region?

Dear Editor:

Why move to the Boothbay region?

Why I moved to the Boothbay region: because I wanted to be able to see the stars, hear the ocean, take nature walks, listen to the birds...

These are all things that are not possible in the dense metropolitan areas full of people, full of noise.

Why do people move to or just visit the region? They want to get away from glitz and high end — glitz and high end can be had anywhere in the country, easy to find!

Now that we have endured a summer full of delays, not to mention the dirt and the endless car washes — and now the roundabout, where people have to be taught with graphics in the local paper how to drive — things that they should have learned in drivers' ed. I was driving behind a big trailer who was trying to negotiate the roundabout, and the trailer was leaning very precariously to one side — that's scary!

What else is scary, there is a need for another stop sign near the monument on the way to the post office — one has to stop to see whether there are cars coming from Back River Road and they can't see around the bend — go try that one. Where is the improvement?

Having the town so divided is so sad! Where is the improvement? Trying very hard to find it — and where are the promised jobs? The boat builders, they bring the jobs. Bigelow brings the jobs. Everything else is seasonal and low paying. Where is the improvement?

We like our artist "colony" — the painters, authors, crafts people, happily being creative around the region — Just let it be!
