An opening reception for George Sherwood’s “Wind, Waves & Light” sculpture exhibition at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay will be held on Wednesday, June 24 from 5-7 p.m.

Sherwood’s kinetic sculptures are both highly refined and elegantly simple as they move with each breath of wind. Inspired by nature, his abstract work is reminiscent of flocks of birds, schools of fish, shimmering leaves and waves of light and water.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens offers a spectacular setting for this solo exhibition.

This exhibit will remain at the gardens through Oct. 12.

An artist talk with Sherwood is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is located at 132 Botanical Gardens Drive in Boothbay, about one mile down Barters Island Road.

Visit www.mainegardens.org for hours, admission and artist talk registration.
