The injury-hobbled Seahawks (2-8) met the Winthrop Ramblers (6-4) at home on Wednesday, May 16 and came away with a six-inning, 14-4 loss.

Brett Hallowell is recovering from major facial injuries suffered from a ground ball that took a bad deflection, according to assistant coach Bill Mansfield. Jay Hasch will be out for the season with a leg injury, Mansfield said.

Pitcher Cameron Crocker got off to a shaky start giving up eight runs in the first three innings. He gave way to Jacob Wilson with two outs in the third inning. The Seahawks got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Nick Simpson was walked, stole second, gained third on a balk and came home on a single by Steve Reny.

The Ramblers moved to a 10 to 1 lead against pitchers Wilson, Owen Barter and Jamie Labrecque. Winthrop gained four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Seahawks struggled to avoid the 10-run mercy rule knocking in three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Will Labrecque gained first on an error, stole second, and gained third  on a passed ball. Wilson then walked and gained second on a passed ball. Both he and Labrecque were driven home with a long line drive double to center field by Cameron Crocker. Crocker came home on a single by Reny who was thrown out at second to end the game.

Ramblers freshman Colby Emery made his pitching debut giving up only one run before being replaced by Carson Camick in the third inning.
