Wiscasset vehicle-pedestrian accident hospitalizes local man

A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 on Wiscasset's Gardiner Road, or Route 27. Bernard Koehling, 82, of Wiscasset was rushed to Maine Medical Center in Portland with life-threatening injuries.

He was subsequently in the intensive care unit.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Koehling was identified as Chad Breton, 37, of Wiscasset. Detective Sergeant Andrew Booth from the Bath Police Department is assisting with the investigation and reconstruction. Breton has been cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
