Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum announces 2018 events

    Saturday, March 31: Easter Eggspress Come celebrate Easter with steam train rides noon to 3 p.m., and Easter egg hunts at Alna Center! Locate a golden egg and a large basket of goodies is yours! Separate egg hunts will be held for different age groups. Train tickets are only $5 per person, and free under age 3. This event is our first public train for the 2018 season.

    Friday-Sunday April 27-29: Spring Work Weekend. Each year since 1997, volunteers from around the country and overseas travel to the Museum in late April and over the Columbus Day weekend to help work on numerous projects at the Museum. Come join in whenever you can! No one will be turned away. Work is from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.; lunch and supper are provided by the Museum to the volunteers.

    May 5-19: Spring schedule begins, Saturdays only trains operate 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    May 26: Memorial Day Weekend-Oct. 8 Columbus Weekend: Summer schedule runs with train service departing Sheepscot Station Saturdays and Sundays at. No trains scheduled Monday Memorial Day or Columbus Day

    Saturday July 7: noon-3 p.m. Ice Cream Social.Enjoy an old fashioned summertime treat at our museum. Take the steam train from Sheepscot station to Alna Center Station and enjoy locally made ice cream. While at Alna Center relax and enjoy music, try your hand at flying kites, and jump in to the old-fashioned games. Ice cream and activities are included with train ticket.  

    July 28: Summer Evening Concert at 6 p.m.

    Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-12: Annual Picnic. Food and Fun for everyone! Trains operate the regular timetable, but there are often extras, such as photo freights or early gas engines on display. Picnic lunch from 11 a.m.-2 pm. Special photo train Aug. 11 at 6 p.m.

    Saturday, Sept. 29: WW &F Railway Museum Fall Festival Come celebrate the Fall with us! Take the train to our Alna Center stop and you and your family will discover a world filled with kids games, face painting, apple bobbing, pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, and hay ride in the back of a Model AA truck. All this while you enjoy bluegrass pickin' music! Fun for the whole family. handcar rides and model T railcar rides also available.10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Kids 3 and under are free. Evening Moonlight Train at 6 p.m. 

    Friday-Monday, Oct. 5-8: Fall Work Weekend Come help extend our track and/or work on other projects on the railroad. Come join in! No one will be turned away. Work is from 7 a.m.-5 p.m; lunch and supper are provided by the Museum to the volunteers.

    Saturdays, Oct. 13-Oct. 27: Train Rides every Saturday. Trains operate 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., crew and weather permitting. Closed Sundays.

    Saturday Dec. 22: Victorian Christmas The Museum thanks our supporters throughout the year with free trains, a horse- drawn wagon (or sleigh, if snow permits), and a visit by Santa Claus. Christmas cookies provided by volunteers. Trains operate 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
