150 Stores Celebrate Early Bird Sales!

Years and years ago, Reny's founder Mr. Reny decided hunters' wives needed a day of their own on the first day of hunting season, and Early Bird was born in Mid-Coast Maine. Since then, it has grown into a major event encompassing activities spread over three Saturdays in November and involving over 150 stores located in either Bath, Damariscotta, Wiscasset or Boothbay.

Store line-ups in each town are very different, so area shoppers are wise to block off three Saturdays in November to take advantage of all that is offered. The 2014 Early Bird Sale will kick off on Saturday, November 1 in both Bath and Damariscotta. It's Wiscasset's turn on Saturday, November 8, and Boothbay closes out the four events on Saturday, November 22, along with big discounts offered by more than 60 stores the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The Early Bird Sale is always a fun shopping day. This year there are 4 Early Bird Sales on three Saturdays in November
  • November 1 in Bath and Damariscotta
  • November 8 in Wiscasset
  • November 22 in Boothbay Harbor
Early Bird Sales are all about fun and silliness is encouraged. Dress in your (or someone else’s) pajamas. Wear a bathrobe. Slippers not required, but they're a nice touch, especially bunny slippers. Boothbay Harbor offers more than just discount shopping, with a Pajama Parade and a Bed Race. Both offer prizes.Stores open early on sale days, sometimes as early as 5 a.m. And it pays to get there early. Many sales offer bigger discounts the earlier you shop. In some cases discounts run as high as 40-45% off regular prices. Check here and in the paper for details on each store’s deals.
That's the Early Bird concept. If you haven't been to one, you've missed a lot of fun. It's a great date for young (or old) couples, and moms and dads love to bring along the kids in their pajamas. The kids love the silliness, and will probably remember it when they're 72. For others it's a fun thing to do with friends.
The individual event pages can be reached by clicking on the town name. The pages will evolve as more information about each town's event is provided. Come back often to see what's been added since the last time you looked. Ads will begin going up on town pages one week before the event. To make it easier for you to figure out where to go for what and when, we'll pull together some charts and schedules.Early Bird
If you’re a bargain hunter, just an early morning person who loves fun, or you enjoy a close relationship with a bargain hunter, get up early on three Saturdays in November and make memories.
