2019 Rescue Day at Railway Village

Wed, 06/12/2019 - 9:30am

Boothbay Railway Village hosted the 6th annual Rescue Day on June 8 welcoming seven placement or rescue organizations from throughout Maine: Almost Home Rescue of Maine, Little Paws Big Hearts Pekingese Rescue, Positively Best Friends, Catahoula Rescue of New England, Maine Greyhound Placement Service, Passion for Pets Rescue Organization, and Souly Pets Maine Rescue.

Maine State Troopers Eric Verhille, GJ Neagle and Hunter Belanger were on hand with their respective canine partners Clint, Dracco and Junior. Trooper Verhille and Clint demonstrated exercises illustrating fluid and precise movements. Clint was rewarded with his most prized possession: the kong. Trooper Belanger and Junior demonstrated exercises including the ladder climb, which the trooper said is to encourage suspects hiding out in high areas to come down of their own volition.

Also found under the tents were Gladwags Bandanas, which camped out with Little Paws Big Hearts Pekingese Rescue and Downeast Dog News, which had on display some of its recent publications.
