American Legion Post 36

Tue, 04/23/2024 - 10:30am

As mentioned last week, the next Legion Breakfast will be Saturday, May 4, not the usual Sunday breakfast. And, breakfast will be from 7 to 10 a.m. This is a fundraiser to support a local family. While there is always a suggested donation, please come an contribute what you can. There will be more information coming out on the event, but spread the word, come to the breakfast and bring a friend … bring lots of friends. Early risers can beat the crowd and come at 7 a.m. for those who like to sleep in, just be sure you get there before 10.

For Legionnaires, or anyone who wants to help the Post Hall, following the fundraising breakfast we will be having a spring cleaning. Weeds pulled around the Hall, grass repaired from the snow plowing, mulch spread where it is needed, picnic tables placed where needed, upper parking lot cleaned up from the firewood piles that have been there over the past couple of years are just some of things that need to be done.   There will be piles of mulch to spread and a couple of yards of stone to go around the Hall once it is weeded. This would also be a great project for kids who need community service time. Since the breakfast is over at 10, the outside spring cleaning will start at 10:30. Pizza will be served for lunch for those who help out.

Red Sox tickets raffle

Exciting news! The coaches for the Post Legion baseball team, the 36ers, have secured four tickets together for the Red Sox/Yankee game on Saturday, July 27. Secured meaning donated, so 100% of the money raised by this raffle will go to support our team! The 36ers are part of the American Legion Post, which means your purchase of the raffle tickets are tax deductible. These tickets are in what is referred to as the “Coca Cola Preferred Section” which is directly behind Section 31/32. If you don’t know Fenway, this Section is along the 3rd base line at the Green Monster end with an unobstructed view. If you go to the Red Sox website and check to see what those tickets are worth, you’ll find that the lowest price tickets are now (or on April 22) selling for $169/ticket. By game time, they will be well over that. Raffle tickets are available and anyone wanting tickets for themselves or willing to sell tickets, see Robin Ford, Dave Patch, and other members of the Legion. The 36er coaches will be out selling tickets as well. You can also order online via the links on the Post 36 Facebook page.
