Another successful Mutt Scrub

    Dear Editor:

Two Salty Dogs Pet Outfitters would like to thank all the folks that helped make the sixth annual Mutt Scrub a huge success!

Thanks to the generosity of so many community members, visitors, and local merchants, over $4,300 was raised for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. The weather cooperated, and we enjoyed a sunny afternoon with tons of wonderful dogs and their loving families. An amazing team of volunteers washed 64 dogs and returning nail trimmers Sara and Nancy tided up the paws of more than 30 nervous dogs. We cannot thank all these volunteers enough and truly appreciate their continued support!

And as in prior years, local businesses really came through in support of the shelter and donated outstanding raffle prizes. Many thanks to the generous supporters at Eventide, Coastal Dog, Robinson’s Wharf, Boathouse Bistro, Newagen Inn, Bistro 233, TurnKey Vacation Rentals, Mr. Dog Training, Ports of Italy, Newcastle Publick House, Creature Comforts Pet Care, Paws Awhile, Harborside Tavern, Pinkham’s Seafood, Thistle Inn, Boothbay Railway Village, China by the Sea, Capers, Gimbels of Maine, Sherman’s, Tugboat Inn, Blue Moon Café, Shannon’s Unshelled, Coastal Maine Popcorn, Dirty Bird Pottery, Kaler’s, Pier 1 Pizza, Waves, Wicked Whoopie, and Orne’s Candy Store.

And we were reminded once again what a difference entertainment makes! Thanks to MC Meow-Meow for moving things along with laughs and great music, Kaylee Martin for some really cool face-painting, and all the folks who used their impartial sharp-eyed talents to judge a canine talent show and doggie musical chairs.

We would like to extend a special thank-you to Mutt Nose Best from Bangor for donating natural organic shampoos, to Janson’s for game prizes, and to A Silver Lining for not only donating a fantastic raffle prize, but prizes for top three talent show winners.

Lastly thanks to Lincoln County Animal Shelter staff and volunteers. We hope everyone will visit the shelter in Edgecomb or in Brunswick and continue to support their efforts to care for animals throughout Lincoln County.

Don, Liana, Max, Auggie, and Buddy Kingsbury
