Art@Waterfront Park

Mon, 08/27/2012 - 9:30am

Artists will demonstrate painting, doing portraits, drawing, working in clay, cutting silhouettes and more. See and hear the Greenfields, back after a lively performance last year. Browse through a park full of white tents brimming with artwork. Meet the artists at Art@Waterfront Park, the annual art fair of fine art, demonstrations and music in the Boothbay Harbor Whale/Waterfront Park.

Art@Waterfront Park takes place on Saturday, Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If there is rain, the event will take place on Sunday.

The Greenfields, a dynamic trio of David Fields, Debra Arter and Joe Brennan, play acoustic guitar, flute, banjo and sing Irish ballads, folk songs and songs of the sea.

Artists Tony vanHasselt, Margaret Canepa, John Seitzer, Sue H. Kibbe, Barbara Eldred, Ruth Monsell, Sally Smith and Jim Taliana will participate. Barbara Eldred will be working in clay and invites children of all ages to take part in the making of clay tiles. VanHasselt will be painting impressionistic watercolors for which he is nationally renowned. Kibbe will be doing portraits as will Monsell, but Kibbe will be painting with colorful pastel, and Monsell will be cutting black paper to make striking silhouettes. Smith will be drawing and Taliana will be demonstrating palette-knife painting.

While this art fair isn’t very large by art fair standards, it more than fills the waterfront park with art and artists, and includes music. This event is free for all.
