Baked beans at St. Philip’s Church July 30

Mon, 07/23/2018 - 10:30am

Come and get ’em, folks! There’s a little something for every palate at St. Philip’s dinner on Monday, July 30, 5:30-7 p.m., the second in its summer supper series. St. Philip’s is located at 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset. Telephone, 207-882-7184. Reservations are not necessary, but helpful in the planning.

Want meatless beans? Got ‘em. Want meaty beans? Got ‘em. Traditional salt pork?  That, too.  And so many varieties and colors:  Jacob’s cattle, great northern, pea, kidney, red, black, white; the list goes on.

Mouth-watering casseroles prepared by the church people will also be available for those who aren’t bean enthusiasts, or who want to compliment their beans with other tasty fare. The menu rounds out with salads, breads, homemade desserts, and choice of beverage—and all for a donation!  No donation is too small or too large.

All are welcome, and all monies raised are dedicated to support of the church and its outreach initiatives that include meeting space for community support groups, the Help Yourself Shelf food pantry, the Feed Our Scholars backpack program, and the Bargain Basement—which will be open on the 30th, 5-7:15—for the bargain shoppers among us.

The Basement is known for its bargain prices. It’s also known for helping those experiencing life disruptions with clothing and housewares from the stock at no charge to them.

Reminder:  rounding out the summer supper series on Monday, Aug. 13, will be haddock chowder. St. Philip’s has long been celebrated for its fresh haddock chowder dinners by locals and those from away.

Save the dates. Tell your friends. See you there!
